2014 in Review

Well, this was a strange year for me, to say the least. 😛
Putting this under a Read More because it’s long.

For me, the start of 2014 wasn’t really a huge deal. I was going through a worse part of life, and it being a new year didn’t really do anything to change that. The big thing at that point for me was having just joined my very first forum ever…

…which went inactive about a day after I joined it, because we moved to another forum. Oh, and that banner has now been up for a year. 😆

But enough of me. For now. 😛

BV as a whole was on a rocky road for 2014, going through various periods of time where people were afraid it would close (right now, we’re in one of these) but making a comeback of sorts in September 2014 when the CyBearGuides and special guests returned to BV…every night!

The CBGs even hosted two contests in 2014 – Halloween-themed and Christmas-themed condo contests. There were very rare prizes awarded to the winners, which you can see by going through my blog and looking at the archives and stuff. Some of the highlights from the contests were moose, buffalo, and basket, along with some other common crap, because the CBGs sometimes have no idea what is or isn’t rare. *cough*green wand is not rare*cough*

While there weren’t really any new quests this year, there were some new items that everyone seemed to overlook. Besides the twelve VIB items – eleven of which I’ve posted about on BRD – the camp shirts and prizes this year were new, as well as the Newspaper Hat and Reading Chair from the Bearville Times, and, of course, this year’s PSIs.

There’s a rumor going around that Princess Celestia will be the last bear to ever have a PSI on BV, but we won’t know how true that is until next year…

The Bearville Times underwent a visual change in May 2014, going from the yellow front page we all knew and loved to a white front page that was a little underwhelming:

It was a little jarring at first, but nothing else really seemed to change – the articles were still 95% repeats of other issues from the days of yore, as they have been for maybe two years now. Pretty much the only thing anyone, including the people who make this newspaper, cares about is the Pawsome Pics section. But more on that near the end.

I think that’s everything for BV, so let’s move on to BVWP!

If you were to ask someone how BV changed this year, they would probably say it declined a lot. For BVWP, though, the opposite happened.

At the start of 2014 there were only three, count three, BVWP bloggers: Stephanie, Abi, and Princess. Stephanie is still MIA, by the way. Feel free to drag her back to her computer if you see her.

However, Rosanna and I both joined BVWP in January 2014, which (unbeknownst to all five of us at the time) was the start of something new for BVWP.

Wow, this is both seasonally and thematically appropriate. Go me.

Slowly but surely, we got more and more new bloggers. First Katie joined in March, then Casey joined in April, then Maeve joined in May, and so on and so forth. After Selena, the ninth BVWPer, joined us, that was when BVWP began to be popular and stuff. Well, I wouldn’t say popular just yet. Maybe a better term would be “that was when the BVWPers really started talking to each other”. Because, somehow, Selena and her blog posts and her similar antics brought us all together, and I couldn’t be happier that she did. 😛

In the fall of 2014, people started joining BVWP just because I had made them they had heard about it and thought it sounded fun. Which is how we got Bunny, Tray, Diva, and now ZoeyRocker. Yay for BVWP! 🙂

Overall, BVWP went from a tiny little group where people searched endlessly for other bloggers to a semi-popular community where everyone knows and gets along well-ish with each other. 🙂

Finally, for me, well, let’s just say this…

In the beginning of 2014, we were all still plagued by Amber the Hacker and her deceptive ways.
Everyone loved Bearville Shi– er, Bearville City.
And life wasn’t the best for me.
But at the end of 2014…

Thank you to everyone who stood by me in 2014, through thick and thin.
Here’s to a wonderful 2015 with all of you.
